DESCRIPTION:The Iowa City Area HBA’s Legislative Committee meets every other month on the third Tuesday from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. \nThe committee recommends policies to the association on legislative\, regulatory and legal matters. It tracks and monitors issues\, explores options on ways to deal with them and connects with local officials and legislative leaders. The committee endorses candidates for local elections and actively recruits candidates for boards and commissions. It also discusses strategies and methods of advocating to gain the best possible results for HBA members. Board members Mike Pugh and Glenn Siders oversee the Legislative Committee. \n  \n        \nLegislative Committee\, chaired by Mike Pugh.

DESCRIPTION:Sign up for the Energy Blitz ! The event is a collaboration between the\nCity of Iowa City and Johnson Clean Energy District to commemorate April’s Earth Day.\n\nWho: \nAnyone is welcome to volunteer! You will need your own transportation. High School students are eligible to earn Silver Cord volunteer hours for participating. Everyone receives a reusable eco-friendly water bottle. Each participant must complete a liability waiver. \nWhat:\nLED lightbulbs and other energy efficiency supplies will be distributed on the south side of Iowa City. Volunteers will travel together in small groups to deliver energy savings boxes in local neighborhoods. Masks are required to be worn at all times and social distancing will be practiced. \nTimes: \n9 – 11:30 a.m. OR 3:30 – 5 p.m. \nSign Up Link:\nhttps://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0b4fafad2da6f49-earth \nOrientation:\nRecorded Zoom\nHand Out\n \nMeeting Place: \nEach team will assemble at Fairmeadows Park at the start of their shift to meet their team captains\, go over instructions and ask questions before heading out. Please arrive 10 minutes before your shift. \n \nWhy:\nThe energy packages being supplied to families will save energy and money.
