DESCRIPTION:The Women Build Committee has selected Jane Hagedorn as honoree for the 11th Women Build home located in the Peninsula neighborhood at 780 Barber Place\, Iowa City. Men are welcome to build with us as “MENtors” while we focus on empowering women. \nWe have all of the training\, tools and equipment you need and we will teach you everything you need to know to help us complete this affordable home alongside the qualified\, first-time homebuyer. \nConstruction site age restrictions: All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Those under 18 must have parent/guardian consent to participate on an active construction site. Sixteen and 17 year old youth cannot use power tools and cannot get more than 6 feet off the ground. If you are under 18\, it is best to contact the volunteer coordinator in advance to determine the tasks that will be completed during your shift. \nClothing: Wear comfortable\, layered\, weather appropriate clothing. DESCRIPTION:The Iowa City Area HBA’s Legislative Committee typically meets every other month on the third Tuesday from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. \nThe committee recommends policies to the association on legislative\, regulatory and legal matters. The committee endorses candidates for local elections and actively recruits candidates for boards and commissions.
