The City of Iowa City is seeking specific examples from Iowa City Area HBA members about what drives up costs to develop land and build a home in Iowa City.
Currently, 93 home owners are priced out of being able to purchase a home for every $1,000 increase.
Examples may include:
- Delay Costs (e.g. incurred from loan interest while waiting for city groups to approve plans)
- Development Policies (e.g. winding roads required instead of grid)
- Permit Fees
- Building Codes specific to Iowa City
- Design Standards
