Are your kids getting crazy because of the continued isolation? Well, let them channel some of that stopped-up energy into creativity through our Rube Goldberg Machine Contest! It’s open to the public – not just offspring of Iowa City Area HBA members. This American cartoonist and inventor is the father of the wacky and amazing chain reaction contraptions. Contest Dates: Starts April 27, ends May 8. Winners announced week of May 11.
Ages: 11-18
What to Do: Search Rube Goldberg machine on the Internet to get those ideas flowing. There are two categories: Five Steps and Ten Steps. Then, create your masterpiece, take a video of your working machine and post or submit it by 5 p.m. Friday, May 8. Tag us on Facebook @iowacityareahba and Instagram @icareahba. Or, email it to karyl@hbaofic.org if you prefer, and we’ll post it.
Judges: Select HBA engineering members.
