On April 28, nearly 1,700 students from local middle and high schools attended Build My Future at Hawkeye Downs for a day of hands-on career exploration.
The event ran smoothly thanks to the many dedicated volunteers who assisted throughout the day. Special recognition goes to Workforce Development Coordinator Amy Pearson, who organized and led the event from start to finish.
Thank you to our HBA members who helped make the event possible through sponsorships and interactive booths. Your involvement gave students a valuable opportunity to explore careers in the skilled trades and experience the industry firsthand.

As part of the day, students also competed in the Eastern Iowa Industry Skills Competition, where 10 teams put their talents to the test by building picnic tables for the Corps of Engineers. Congratulations to Williamsburg High School for taking first place, with Liberty High School earning second place.
